Learn to Earn

Learn to Earn is a skills development and job creation organisation seeking to develop people, especially unemployed people, socially, economically, emotionally and spiritually. The financial support received from the corporate sector, trusts, churches and individual funders enables Learn to Earn to continue partnering with the unemployed and providing a ‘hand up not a hand out’.

Their skills development and training centres are based in Khayelitsha, Hermanus, Bellville and Claremont, where over 500 people per year are impacted through their programme. Students have the option of the following market-related skills development courses: Bake for Profit, Basic Cashier, Basic Handyman, Basic Hospitality, Office Administration, Graphic Design Bridging Course, Home Management, Basic Sewing, Woodwork, Basic Computers, an 8-week long Business Skills course, as well as attending the Ground UP Academy – a social enterprise initiative to train and equip unemployed people in becoming entry level Baristas. Fashion for Change is an innovative social enterprise aimed at equipping unemployed South Africans with practical skills and experience to secure a job and a successful career in the retail industry.

All of the Learn to Earn courses include a life skills aspect.
